Rules
The Rules of the Order
Eight obligations accepted by every member. They are short by design: standards are easier to keep than regulations.
- 01
Honesty
A member's word is their bond in business, in family and in the order.
- 02
Discretion
No member reveals another member's identity or affairs without consent.
- 03
Lawfulness
Members obey the laws of Australia and of every country they operate in.
- 04
Free will
No one is recruited by pressure. Every application is made freely and may be withdrawn.
- 05
Respect
Faith, background, gender and origin are never grounds for exclusion or contempt.
- 06
Stewardship
Members maintain what is entrusted to them — capital, people, land and reputation.
- 07
Contribution
Each member gives time, counsel or means to the community they live in.
- 08
No exploitation
Membership is never used to defraud, coerce or profit at another member's expense.
Before you apply
Applicants from anywhere in Australia should be satisfied they can keep these obligations before submitting an application. If you have not yet read the history or the philosophy, begin there.
